Marilyn Nadell (Cubert) McDonald Senn, 92, Passed away May 11, 2022. A Celebration of her Life will be held 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. Saturday, July 9th, 2022 At Woodland Pavilion, Broad Run Park, 10702 Broad Run Parkway Louisville, Ky. 40291.. It's a picnic celebration to honor a wonderful mother, stepmother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend. Marilyn “Moms” Cubert A short story and some photos about the journey of my life (For all my children, Grandchildren and Great grandchildren) At this time of my life, like most people, I hope that I have done some good. I consider you all my best! On February 24th, 1930, I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to a woman named Kella Cubert who gave me up to be raised by her parents, my grandparents, James and Artie Cubert became my Mother and Daddy. That was a good thing because I had a good happy life with them. We lived in Taylorsville, Kentucky on Main Street next door to the small grocery store Daddy owned. At the store, when I was “lonesome” Daddy would give me a nickel to buy candy. You could buy a lot of candy for a nickel in those days! Mother was a seamtress in Taylorsville and I always had pretty cloths and long curly hair. I can remember making a “Poodle skirt” that I loved. During these younger years I spent lots of time roller skating, riding my bike, playing with friends and involved with church. At times I would sit on a stool at the local feed mill and sing songs for the workers I was not shy! Mother saw to it I learned to cook….good! Sometimes, after schood, Mother would fix homemade potato chips, pop corn, or bacon rinds and cornbread for me and my playmates. She and I was very popular! During my high school years I got a job T Lerman Dept. Store in Louisville, this kept me in spending money and out of trouble. I did find time to date some, was in my junior and senior plays and participated in other school activities. After high school, in 1948, I got married and moved to Louisville. I got a job at American Tobacco Co., in the west Louisville. My job was “shading cigars, which I did not like! I got a job T Cochran Foil Co. after “fibbing” on the application about my age (I was younger age). I made radar reflectors for the air force, as a press operator. The company became Alcan Aluminum Co. where I ran a machine called a Slitter Rewinder for the next 40 years! I was blessed with three wonderful daughters, I was divorced from their father when they were young. I loved time spent with my girls in the country, where I drove a tractor and we had a garden. My single life had been mostly happy, busy, active and rewarding! I have done many interesting things, been to the Kentucky Derby, visited Las Vegas and became a Kentucky Colonel! I was past President of “Parents without Partners” and the Eagles Lodge of Jeffersontown. Later I moved to a house in Hikes Point to be closer to my work. In 1995 I purchased a small place near Fort Meade, Florida that I used whin I could in the winters. In 2000 AI remarried after 30 years of being single. That union lasted until he passed away in 2005. I moved to Hammock Lake permanently, year round in 2015. It’s warm all year! I miss my two daughters that I lost so very much, I think of them every day and have made a small memorial in my yard to honor them. I love them very much. I am still blessed with a wonderful daughter, four wonderful grandchildren, and wonderful great-grandchildren that I cherish so much! You all now who you are! Ha Ha!
