Lillian Mae Blankenship

LILLIAN MAE BLANKENSHIP (nee Kern & Bibelhauser), 92 of Louisville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning November 21, 2017 at Park Terrace Health Campus. Born in Louisville Ky. on October 4, 1925, she was adopted as a baby by Henry Phillip Kern and Susan Ellen (Blankenship) Kern. When Lil was a child, the family moved from Portland to Eureka Avenue. She was a proud 1943 graduate of Valley High School. She married neighbor, Ed Bibelhauser, Sr. on November 22, 1947 and moved down Lees Lane to the farm they worked together for 30 years and on which they raised 4 children. Mom married Bill Blankenship in 1978 and moved to Memphis TN. Mom moved back to the family farm in Louisville, KY in 1991, where she reestablished herself as the matriarch of our family by being a forever constant in the lives and activities of her family and friends. She enjoyed an active lifestyle of gardening, crossword puzzles, bowling, dancing, scrabble and dominos. Mom was always ready for a poker game and highball. Lil was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward G. Bibelhauser, Sr. on December 29,1990, her second husband, William B. Blankenship on November, 15, 1991 and her grandson, Daniel E. Bibelhauser on February 15, 1992. She is survived by her children, Eddie Bibelhauser, Jr., Mike Bibelhauser (Stacy), Bob Bibelhauser (Susan), Nancy Bibelhauser, grandchildren, Jason P Bibelhauser (Carri), Julianne Bibelhauser, Mark Bibelhauser (Lisa), Samuel Bibelhauser and Brigid Bibelhauser, Great-Grandchildren, Drake Dearing, Blade Bibelhauser, Caden Bibelhauser, Holly McClurkin, Lily Bibelhauser, Colin O’Bryan, & Kyle Bibelhauser. A funeral service to celebrate Lil’s life will be at 11am on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Ratterman Keenan Southwest Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Road with interment to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit from 3-8 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2017 and from 9am until the service on Monday.
