Melanie Ann Sanders

Melanie Ann Sanders, 50, entered into the arms of her Sweet Jesus from her home Thursday, October 24, 2024 peacefully with family and friends by her side. Melanie lived in Portland her whole life. For many years Melanie worked in the Laundry Department at the VA Hospital and loved going to her Active Day and Lifeworks Center. Everyone loved Melanie and she loved them. Melanie was born in Jefferson County to Roy A. and Nancy Sanders. She was a member of The Salvation Army of Portland, where she loved her church family and watching all the babies grow up. Carrying on her legacy is her beloved mother, Nancy (Smith) Sanders and her dearly loved brother, Allen (Charise) Sanders. Melanie loved her two nieces and two nephews Caleb (Becka) Sanders, Emily (Patrick) Loewen, and Kaye and Jonathan Sanders. She also leaves behind her precious new great nephew; Henry Loewen. Melanie is also survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles, whom she loved. Lastly, Melanie left behind her 2nd mom and dad Mike and Lisa Good, her pretend mom and dad Steve Watson and Jenny Smothers, her friend Mark Decker, along with her church family and friends who loved her dearly. Melanie is preceded in death by her father Roy Allen Sanders and her grandparents; Waive and Cardema Sanders and Marquis and Lucy Mae Smith. Melanie was a light that lit up every room she walked into. She loved her babies, Karate Kid and WWE wrestlers. She was known as the baby whisperer because she made any child crying into a happy one. She was truly a most lovable woman and greatly loved beyond measure. Melanie was a forever friend to all. She never knew a stranger and her unconditional love for people was what made her into who she was. Melanie was a joy to all and will forever be missed. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at J.B. Ratterman & Sons Funerals & Family Cremation Care, 2114 W. Market St. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation from 2:00 to 8:00pm Friday, November 1, 2024 and from 9:00am to Noon on Saturday, November 2nd. Please keep Nancy and her family in your prayers.
