John Lee Bohannon, Sr.

John Lee Bohannon Sr. Affectionately known as Dad, Papa, and Senior. Eighty years young and full of life, he passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, to join his heavenly family. He had been supervisor and foreman at Fischer Packing for 25 years, and he loved operating his own real estate property restorations. He was a 45 year member of Incarnation Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters and great granddaughter, Jewel Nevaeh. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Audrey Niemeier Bohannon; children, Melinda L. Norris (Joe), John L. Bohannon (Cherie), Gina G. Bohannon and Janet J. Klein (Bob); 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. John was a blessed man who valued his family and lived a beautiful life. He referred to himself as a good ol' Portland boy. John spent the majority of his time in Portland, helping the community, revitalizing homes, and negotiating any and every deal around. He was quick to give, gave everyone a chance, and refused to see the negative in any situation. With John around, you had nothing to worry about and everything was okay. John's favorite pastime was sitting back and watching his family gather together. He would many times say he was the most blessed man around and it all started with a dream. John cherished his beautiful bride, his "chosen one", and was so proud of the family they created. He would always remind you how much he loved you. In any situation, John was the most dapper dressed man, who could steal the show. He did everything his way and always had your best interest in his mind. Due to his kindness, generosity, and humor; it would be impossible to list all those whose lives were touched by him. He went through life with a smile on his face, positive attitude, and lived in the moment. He often said "how blessed am I to have a family like this". However, this was wrong, we were the blessed ones to have him. We have no doubt John has gathered his heavenly family together and is taking them out for a ride on a beautiful Bennington boat in the bluest of waters, dressed in a crisp powder blue outfit, white boat shoes, and a ball cap, while sharing in good conversation; unless he negotiated a good deal on a new fishing boat of course. John will be missed deeply by so many. Fly high, sing loud, dance peacefully, and guard us closely until we meet again. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ratterman Keenan Southwest Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Road. Donations to Table of Plenty care of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
